KOKKE House Suite at Hotel De L’Europe, Amsterdam
A bespoke hotel suite by familyrun design studio KOKKE House, located in the five-star Hotel De L’Europe in Amsterdam. The suite brings together Dutch design heritage, museum references, and contemporary craftsmanship in a highly personal hospitality experience.

Within the historic setting of Hotel De L’Europe, KOKKE House realised its own bespoke hotel suite, conceived as an extension of the family’s design universe. The suite was designed as a domestic yet sophisticated environment, where furniture, colour, material, and art references form a coherent whole.
Custom designed furniture plays a central role. A bespoke sofa and a sculptural Klokkast cabinet were developed specifically for the suite, anchoring the living space with quiet authority. Living Area,
Stedelijk Inspiration The living room of the suite draws inspiration from Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, which holds nine works by designer Ruud-Jan Kokke in its permanent collection. The atmosphere is modern, spatial, and slightly abstract, focusing on clarity, balance, and structure. Materials and proportions reference the modernist lineage associated with the Stedelijk, while remaining warm and inhabitable.
Bedroom, Rijksmuseum Influence The bedroom takes its inspiration from Rijksmuseum, where both the Pootjes! armchair and the F_10 chair by Ruud-Jan Kokke are part of the collection.
The colour palette and visual impression echo the depth and richness of the Old Masters, interpreted through a contemporary lens. Artist Petra Hartman provided artistic influence for the bedroom through her sensitivity to colour, material, and historical layering. Her approach translates the atmosphere of classical painting into a tactile, intimate environment that feels both timeless and personal.
Collaboration and Realisation The project was realised in close collaboration with D/DOCK and Hotel De L’Europe. Together, the partners ensured that the suite aligns seamlessly with the standards of a five-star hotel while retaining the autonomy and identity of KOKKE House. The result is a hotel suite that functions as a living interior, a design statement, and a quiet tribute to Dutch cultural institutions, craftsmanship, and family-driven design.
